The carrier tone — this is simply the audible frequency you find comfortable to listen to. It doesn't affect the brainwave entrainment. Pick whatever sounds pleasant to you.

This is the important one — the frequency your brain will perceive and entrain to. Set this to the brainwave frequency you want to target: Delta (1–4Hz) for deep sleep, Theta (4–8Hz) for meditation, Alpha (8–14Hz) for relaxation, or Beta (14–30Hz) for focus.

How it works: The left ear receives a tone at the base frequency (e.g. 200 Hz) and the right ear receives a tone slightly higher (e.g. 210 Hz). The brain perceives the 10 Hz difference as a beating tone — even though no 10 Hz sound exists in the audio. This is the binaural beat. Headphones are essential — speakers mix the two channels before they reach your ears, cancelling the effect. Delta waves (1–4 Hz) are associated with deep sleep; Theta (4–8 Hz) with meditation; Alpha (8–14 Hz) with relaxed focus; Beta (14–30 Hz) with alertness.
